My Mother and her cat moved to Harbison Shores about a month and a half ago. Mother made the decision to move to assisted living herself, and we were very blessed that CarePatrol helped us find Harbison Shores shortly after she made the decision. Mother keeps telling us how content she is to be at Harbison Shores and how safe she feels, and the cat has settled in nicely as well. The staff and leadership team have all been lovely to work with. We have very much appreciated how responsive they all are to our requests and emails, and how ...kind they are to the residents. The wooded setting and outdoor areas are calming and beautiful, and Mother's apartment is perfect. Having Mother at Harbison Shores has lifted many anxieties from all our shoulders!

November is American Diabetes Month. Diabetes, especially type 2, affects many people in the United States. There are several easy ways to lower your chances of developing type 2 diabetes and keep yourself in good overall health.
· Eating healthier will lower your risk of type 2 diabetes. Overloading on sugar is very unhealthy and can put you at high risk. It is okay to treat yourself every once in a while, but cutting back on unhealthy foods or consuming smaller portions is key. You can snack on delicious vegetables or fruit instead of eating sweets of junk food. Be sure to also drink a lot of water and to avoid or cut back on other beverages with a lot of sugar. · Exercise is the key to not only staying fit and healthy, but is a good way to lower your chances of developing type 2 diabetes. Try to exercise a minimum of thirty minutes five days a week. Something as easy as walking is a great example. You can ask your doctor which physical activities are the best for you and your health. You can also alternate between activities so that you never get tired of your fitness routine. · Maintain a healthy weight. This goes hand in hand with both eating healthy and exercising as they will help you to maintain a healthy weight.
